Grant Public Schools                                                  March 26, 2007

 

The Transportation Committee of the Grant Public Schools Board of Education met on March 26, 2007 at 5:00 p.m. at the Grant Public Schools Administration Building.

 

Board Members Present:      Paul Roberts & Jon Chase

 

Board Members Absent:       Jim Stuart

 

Others Present:                      Scott Bogner, Becky DeHoog, Robert Jenema

           

The committee discussed several items including amending the transportation policy regarding the middle school student discipline plans in order to match the current middle school handbook language, and bus driver accident policy where each driver would be required to do a drug and alcohol test following any accident.

 

The purchase of a new radio system was discussed because of some disrepair of our existing system.  There is an initiative throughout Newaygo County to coordinate radio communications as part of homeland security measures.  The committee was interested in seeing if the new company would be able to provide handheld radios for our maintenance crew.

 

There was discussion regarding the formation of a committee to look at emergency procedures and plans for the transportation department.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 5:50 p.m.
