Grant Public Schools                                                                                           May 21, 2007

 

The Board of Education of the Grant Public Schools met in special session on Monday, May 21, 2007 with President, Dave Robinson presiding.

 

Board Members Present: Dave Robinson, President; Jim Stuart, Vice President; Kris Lesley, Secretary; Bob Jenema, Treasurer; Jon Chase, Jill Niewiadomski, and Paul Roberts Trustees.

Administrators Present: Scott Bogner, Superintendent; Tom Szocinski, H.S. Principal; Scott Cousineau, H.S. Assistant Principal

Others Present:   Kathi Thornton, Executive Secretary; student’s mother and student.

OTHERS PRESENT

 

 

President, Dave Robinson, called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  Today’s meeting was called due to a disciplinary hearing.

 

 

President Dave Robinson asked the family whether they would like the meeting to be open or closed.  Family requested the meeting to be held in closed session.  Motion by Bob Jenema, supported by Jon Chase, to convene the board into closed session for the purpose of an expulsion hearing.

OPEN SESSION

 

 

Motion Carried 7-0

 

 

 

At this time the Grant Public Schools Board of Education recommends the student be expelled for the rest of the 2006-07 school year.  The student may enroll in the Learning Center for the 2007-08 school year under a behavior contract.  If the student satisfactorily completes the 2007-08 school year and shows positive behavior, attendance and grades, the student may petition the board for reenrollment into the Grant High School.  Motion by Paul Roberts, supported by Bob Jenema.

There being no further business before the Board, President Dave Robinson entertained a motion for adjournment, motion by Jim Stuart, supported by Jill Niewiadomski.  Meeting declared adjourned at 7:43 p.m.
