Grant Public Schools                                                                                            April 14, 2008

 

The Board of Education of the Grant Public Schools met in special session to consider the expulsion of a high school student on Monday, April 14, 2008 with President, Dave Robinson presiding.

 

Board Members Present: Dave Robinson, President; Jim Stuart, Vice President; Jill Niewiadomski, Secretary; Kris Lesley (6:02), Treasurer; Jon Chase, Bob Jenema, and Paul Roberts, Trustees.

Administrators Present: Scott Bogner, Superintendent; Tom Szocinski, H.S. Principal; Dan Simon, H.S./M.S. Assistant Principal; Lance Stray, AD/Dean of Students; Lance Jones, M.S. Principal.

Others Present:   Kathi Thornton, student & student’s parents.

President, Dave Robinson, called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.  

 

 

Motion by Bob Jenema, supported by Jill Niewiadomski, to approve the agenda as presented.

Motion Approved 6-0

 

 

 

Mr. Robinson asked the parents if they would like to proceed in closed session.  Parents responded “yes.”  Motion by Paul Roberts, supported by Jim Stuart, to convene into closed session for an expulsion hearing.

CLOSED SESSION

 

 

Motion Approved 7-0

 

 

 

Motion by Bob Jenema, supported by Jon Chase, to come out of closed session.

OPEN SESSION

 

 

Motion Approved 7-0

 

 

 

Motion by Paul Roberts to expel said student from Grant High School permanently. Second by Jill Niewiadomski. Roll Call Vote:

There being no further business before the Board, President Dave Robinson entertained a motion for adjournment—Motion by Bob Jenema supported by Jim Stuart.  President Robinson declared the meeting adjourned at 7:13 p.m.
