Grant Elementary and Primary Center Reading Is FUNdamental Program 2006
R.I.F. Thanks You!
The Grant Primary Center and Elementary’s Reading is Fundamental Program (R.I.F.) has completed this year’s 3 book distributions to students in first and third grades. This national book program provides discounts on books and reading motivational ideas to assist our students in reading. Specifically, this year, our local R.I.F. program was able to purchase books through the generous support of Parent Involvement. In past years we have received grants and/or gifts from Aramark, Staples, the Community Affairs Council of the H.B. Fuller Company in Grand Rapids, and the Coca Cola Company. We also continue to receive gifts from Target and the General Mills’ Box Tops Program. These generous gifts allow our R.I.F. program to purchase paperback books for each distribution.
At this time, we would like to extend our appreciation to all parents who shop at Target and collect box tops in an effort to support the Grant Primary Cent and Elementary's R.I.F. program. We would also like to thank our R.I.F. volunteers, Lynne and Dave Robinson, for helping with the book distributions. With the help of everyone, we are able to provide books to first and third graders to help foster a love of reading and of books that will serve these children well throughout their lives. “Research shows that children who learn early in their lives that reading is fun, read throughout their lives. Children need to be in literacy-rich environments, in school and at home, where reading is valued and becomes an important part of their daily lives. Putting books into the hands of children who would otherwise not own books is vital to stimulate and engage children in reading.” Thanks again.
Janet Caldwell, R.I.F. Coordinator
