MAY NEWSLETTER

The school year is nearly over and exam week is quickly approaching. Please make sure you are getting it done in the classroom at all times.  We had 29 football players on the honor roll at some point during this school year and we need that number to continually climb. Work Hard in the classroom!

We are 91 days away from our opening game and many have asked who is Birch Run?  Birch Run is much more than a place to shop, it is now a town that has a powerhouse football program.  Here are a few quick stats:

-Six straight winning seasons

- Three Conference titles

-Back to Back Playoff Appearances

-  A district title last year

- And a trip to the SEMIFINALS last year

We have had a very good offseason thus far, but we need to have a great summer to prepare for teams such as Birch Run. The summer schedule may seem very busy, but it’s not that much of a sacrifice.  I’ll break it down for you:

There are 66 days until we report for practice (as of June 1st ), which is a total of 1584 hours.  Out of these 1584 hours we are asking for a total of 44 hours to be committed to the Football program….which is only 2.75% of your summer.   Here are the total hours were asking you to commit too:

26 ½ hours in the weight room, 4 hours for team camp, 1 ½ hour varsity dinner, 7 hours for either lineman camp or 7 on 7 events , 2 hours for community night,  and 3 hours for captains practices.

How Committed are you to this football program?  How committed are you to your teammates? Are you willing to sacrifice other things to show your teammates you’re ready to play for them?

“A man can be as great as he wants to be. If you believe in yourself and have the courage, the determination, the dedication, the competitive drive and if you are willing to sacrifice the little things in life and pay the price for the things that are worthwhile, it can be done”. …. VINCE LOMBARDI

SPRING SPORTS WRAP UP:

We had several football players have successful spring seasons.  In track, Eric Evans led the way placing 2nd in the 100 m dash at the conference meet, qualifying for the state meet and breaking the school record in the 100m dash.  Kolin Stickney was part of a very good 3200m relay team.  Kenny Tufflemire had a great year in the long jump and high jump… Joe Pascoe led the way in shot put and discuss… and several other players set personal records throughout the season.

In baseball, Josh Hudson has led the way hitting the ball all over the place and always taking care of business in the field.  Although the team has struggled in the new conference, they are improving each week as they head into districts.

VARSITY PARENTS/PLAYERS

We will have a parent’s and player’s dinner meeting on Friday, July 7th this year.   The dinner will start at 6:30 PM and will conclude around 7:45ish…   The rest of the details will be available in the June Newsletter.
