MME/ACT/SAT

Michigan Merit Examination (MME)

This test was formerly the MEAP.  It is developed for all Michigan high school students to measure four basic skills: math, science, social studies, & language (reading and writing). The MME is given the Spring of junior year, and retakes are scheduled the following fall. All students take the MME and are therefore qualified to receive the Michigan Promise Scholarship which gives them up to $4,000 toward college if they meet certain standards ($1000 if they attend out-of-state college).

PSAT

The PSAT is a preliminary test for the SAT college entrance exam. It is a good indicator as to how well a student will perform on the SAT or ACT. It is also an opportunity to practice a timed test without the pressure of passing or failing. If a student does score in the top 2% he/she may be recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Foundation. Find out more about the PSAT at College board PSAT.

ACT (American College Test)

Michigan is an ACT state, which means Michigan colleges recognize the ACT as the primary entrance exam for college. The test should be taken in the spring of the junior year or the fall of the senior year. You can pick up a registration packet in the counseling office, or register on-line at ACT registration online.
