Grant Middle School is the home of 645 students in grades 5th through 8th. We have 50 teachers, two administrators and 19 support staff members.  Our family continues to grow as the Grant community grows.

The Middle School strives for excellence in its expectations of the staff, students, and parents. We are NCA accredited and currently working toward outcomes accreditation. Our academic growth has resulted in noticeable increases on the MEAP and Gates MacGinitie tests.

One of the programs we have developed is called Peer Coaches. The purpose of this program is to help new students make the adjustment to our school a little easier. This program is called Peer Coaching and pairs a new student with a student that has attended the Middle School. The coach helps the new student find his/her classes, shows them the building, introduces them to other students and helps wherever he/she can. This has proven to be very successful in easing the new student's fears in coming to a new school.

Our students are offered many extra-curricular activities in which they can participate. Sports opportunities include basketball, girls volleyball, cross-country, wrestling, football, and track. Other activities include PRIDE, Yearbook, Odyssey of the Mind, and WGMS.

The Middle School building is also the Grant Athletic Complex for the district. The gymnasium, which includes a walking track, is used for Middle School sports activities and for Varsity and Junior Varsity sports as well. The football field, new track and field areas, softball and baseball fields and the new Fitness Center are also located on our campus. As the newest and largest building in the district, we are host to many community sponsored events such as Lions Club suppers and breakfasts, class reunions, Girl Scouts and dinner theatres.  We welcome groups from both our own and surrounding communities.

Several years ago saw the addition of teaming at all grade levels. Teaming helps us to better serve the needs of our students by:

  • Creating a family atmosphere where staff and students get to know each other well.

  • Allowing our teachers to focus on individual student needs.

  • Creating a more developmentally appropriate environment for middle school students.

We invite you to stop in and visit our school. We are very, very proud of our school family!
