College Planning

The path to your future starts now. Achieving your dreams takes planning, preparation, and hard work to get there. We are here to help you find your individual path, because your success is our success.

College Visits

We encourage all Grant High School students to make contact with interesting colleges and universities prior to making their final decision regarding where they will apply and attend. We encourage students to:

  • Attend a college fair (College and Career Night Out at Fremont High School in September and the West Michigan National College Fair in Grand Rapids in April).

  • Attend a college rep visit at GHS (the counseling office posts updated schedules each fall).

  • Visit a college campus with GHS. We organize several field trips throughout the year that students can sign up to attend. Be sure to watch for announcements!

  • Take a virtual college tour.

Promise Scholarship

Don’t forget to take advantage of the guaranteed Promise Scholarship for Newaygo County students. Any student who graduates from a Newaygo County high school (including Grant) with a 3.0 GPA and lives within the NCRESA service area, can receive financial assistance to pay for college. The level of assistance varies depending upon need and the length of time students attend a Newaygo school. Students must complete a FAFSA and begin using these funds within one year of graduation.
